Overview

We are seeking a skilled Field Service Engineer to join our team. You must have a strong background in servicing and maintaining heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), buses, and ideally hybrid vehicles.

This role requires a combination of Mechanical understanding, technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and exceptional customer service.

As this is a field based role covering a large area, you will be home based with regular client site visits across the Oxfordshire, Home Counties and East Anglia regions.



Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine maintenance and repair work on HGVs, buses, and hybrid vehicles
  • Diagnose vehicle issues and provide efficient solutions
  • Perform quality inspections to ensure vehicles meet safety standards
  • Communicate effectively with customers, providing updates on service appointments and addressing any concerns
  • Keep accurate records of service and repair work
  • Stay updated on new technologies and industry developments to provide the best service


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in automotive technology is preferred
  • Proven experience as a Field Service Engineer or similar role, with a focus on HGVs, buses, and/or hybrid vehicles
  • Strong mechanical and electrical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and repair complex vehicle systems
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Willingness to work flexible and unsociable hours and travel as needed


Day-to-day

  • Travel to customer sites to perform maintenance and repairs
  • Work independently and as part of a team to ensure timely and effective service
  • Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify vehicle issues
  • Interact with customers to understand their needs and provide exceptional service
  • Keep detailed records of service work and parts used
