Reliability and Improvement Engineering Manager (R & I Manager)
Bridgwater, Somerset
Shift Pattern: Days Monday Friday 38 hours

Refresco Bridgwater is a 24/7 operation manufacturing soft drinks including dairy products. We have 27 production lines in total which produce both bottled and carton drinks.
About the role of R & I Engineering Manager at Refresco:
Reporting to the site engineering manager, The R & I Engineering Manager will champion the Foundational Elements of Engineering Excellence. You will be responsible for 22+ direct reports across R&I, Process, and Servicing.
The R & I Manager takes responsibility for Bridgwater manufacturing Reliability improvement, asset integrity, and preservation. This includes management of the Equipment Care Engineering teams and Predictive Group. You will ensure processes are in place that enable the Refresco Maintenance organisation to preserve the assets, and these assets provide safe, legal, reliable, and efficient operation.
Essential Responsibilities:
Provide leadership that ensures a safe, productive, engaged organisation.
Ensures individuals in the reliability organisation and any of their contractors follow established Refresco safety rules and procedures.
Ensures engineers are knowledgeable of laws, recognized standards and company policies that govern Refresco equipment safety and operation and the applicable sections are followed.
Adequate inspection and repair processes are documented and accomplished so that Refresco equipment conforms to standards, company policies and governing laws/regulation to ensure safe, legal and reliable operation.
Improves Refresco reliability through the disciplined application of the company Operational Excellence Elements. Primary to this role is Equipment Care (BC, PM, Pd.M.), Facility Preservation, Lubrication, Precision Practices (MPM, IEPM, EPD), RCFA, and Reliability Certification.
Ensures equipment maintenance strategies are developed and kept current based on most recent knowledge.
Selection, development, and performance management of the individuals in the reliability improvement organisation to meet objectives.
Establishes and maintains a recruitment and development strategy for reliability engineers.
Shares responsibility with Refresco Capital Manager for building and maintaining a 5-year maintenance capital plan that meets both Bridgwater and company objectives.
Shares responsibility with area managers and area maintenance managers for maintenance budget planning and control.
Support capital team in development and implementation of capital projects with technical support from engineers.
Develop and maintain productive relationships with other Refresco teams, business staff, company subject matter experts and any other people or organisations that may contribute to the achievement of objective
Deliver the Engineering Pillars;
Autonomous Maintenance (AM) Improve Operator Maintenance through basic equipment care to halt deterioration and stabilise equipment.
Focused Improvement (FI) Drive Team Focused Uptime and Operational Equipment Effectiveness through strategic improvement on underperforming performing equipment with known & unknown losses.
Professional Maintenance (PM) Improve Planned Maintenance with Service Contract Suppliers and internal Engineers to optimize life of the equipment and maintenance costs as volume changes over time.
Early Equipment Management (EEM) create smarter & successful new equipment/automation start-ups by improving reliability and flow with early design/layout support for new assets.
Training and Education (TE) facilitate employee Maintenance related training utilising Single Point Lessons (SPL) and standard work tools.
