Job Requirements / Description
A Senior Management role with the potential to grow into Head of Fundraising. The PTI is an educational charity that improves educational outcomes, especially for disadvantaged pupils, by providing inspirational training that enhances their teachers’ skills, subject expertise, and motivation: an approach backed by the best academic research. The charity now has an exceptional opportunity in the new position of Senior Fundraising Manager . This is a key role in fundraising in the organisation and will be pivotal in supporting the strategic ambitions of the charity going forward. The role has excellent opportunities for progression for candidates who perform well and show strategic acumen and the aptitude for greater responsibility. This includes the future potential to join the charity’s Executive Team and the potential to become the charity’s Head of Fundraising. About The PTI The PTI’s central concern is that all young people should receive a knowledge-rich education which empowers them to succeed at school and beyond. Not all young people receive this education, and those from disadvantaged backgrounds are the most likely to fall behind in their learning. By age 16 those young people from less advantaged backgrounds are nearly two years behind their better off peers (Education Policy Institute, 2022). For many, this will close off the possibility of tertiary education and increase the chances of unemployment. By ensuring better training for thousands of teachers each year, The PTI is playing its part to ensure that all young people do well at school, and that they go on to live rich lives, contributing to wider society. The principle of the charity is that our activities are run ‘by teachers for teachers’, and reflecting this, the charity is led by two Co-Directors: Carolyn Roberts, former Headteacher of Thomas Tallis School in Greenwich, is the part-time Co-Director, and Dr Hugh Rayment-Pickard is the full-time Co-Director who leads the administrative team. There are about 150 practising teachers who lead and participate in events for the charity on a consultancy basis. The PTI has an ambitious five-year growth plan and has met all the targets for its first year. When the plan is fully realised, PTI will be working with nearly 3,000 Primary and Secondary schools nationally. Fundraising at the PTI Income at the PTI comprises voluntary income and membership income from schools. The charity is highly dependent on voluntary income, the focus of this role. This is largely driven by a loyal supporter base of individual donors and grant making trusts, with a number of multi year partnerships. The role will report to Dr Hugh Rayment-Pickard, the full-time Co-Director, and work closely with the Development and Communications Assistant, Chairman, and the Development Committee. You will also line manage the Development and Communications Assistant. The ideal candidate will combine creativity with the resilience and persistence to follow up both new leads and established donors. It will require day to day contact with a wide spectrum of people, the range of whom are mentioned throughout this document. You will also be well informed about the external fundraising landscape and keep abreast of the latest charity sector research and philanthropy trends.
