Position: Professional / Practicing Quantity Surveyor (PQS) Location: Manchester, UK Salary: £55,000 per annum Job Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor (PQS) to join a leading consultancy in Manchester. As a PQS, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing project costs from inception to completion. You will provide expert advice on budgeting, procurement, and cost control, ensuring every project remains financially viable. Key Responsibilities: * Cost Consultancy: Engage with clients and project teams at every stage, from initial design to project completion, to provide accurate and strategic cost advice. * Procurement Advice: Offer recommendations on procurement routes and support in hiring contractors to ensure optimal cost efficiency. * Cost Planning: Produce detailed initial cost plans to align with the project’s financial objectives. * Contractor Payments: Collaborate with contractors' Quantity Surveyors (QS) to verify and authorise monthly payment applications. * Price Adjustments: Approve any variations or changes to the original contract price, ensuring financial compliance. * Site Visits: Conduct regular site visits (approximately once a week) to monitor project progress and ensure costs align with project deliverables. Qualifications and Experience: * Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field. * Professional membership with RICS or similar (or working towards chartership). * Proven experience as a PQS, particularly in handling large construction projects. * Strong financial acumen, with the ability to advise on cost-effective solutions. * Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with experience in liaising with contractors and clients.
