About the Role In this role, you’ll provide specialist support to children and young people (CYP) with a variety of speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN), including Developmental Language Disorder (DLD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), speech sound difficulties, and selective mutism. Working closely with school staff, parents, and multidisciplinary professionals, you’ll be instrumental in creating tailored therapy plans that empower children to succeed academically and socially. Your Key Responsibilities The post holder will provide specialist support to children in mainstream schools with speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN), working closely with parents, carers, and school staff to enhance children’s communication skills and enable access to the curriculum. Key responsibilities include: * Assessing, developing, and implementing tailored Speech and Language Therapy interventions for children referred to the SLT service within mainstream schools. * Offering guidance and expertise to others on managing and supporting children with communication difficulties. * Taking responsibility for professional actions and maintaining clear professional boundaries, with support and advice from senior colleagues as needed. * Providing day-to-day supervision and peer review support to junior colleagues and students, including offering second opinions where appropriate. * Independently delivering in-service training to school staff, enhancing their skills and knowledge to better support children with SLCN. * Comprehensive Assessment and Therapy: Conduct individual and group assessments for children with diverse SLCN, developing individualised treatment plans to foster each child’s communication potential. * Collaboration and Support: Provide practical strategies and expert advice to school staff and parents, ensuring a holistic approach to each child’s development. * Training and Development Initiatives: Lead in-service training for allocated schools, enhancing staff’s ability to support students with SLCN, and participate in service development projects that drive best practices and innovation in our service. Who We’re Looking For * A motivated Speech and Language Therapist with experience working with children and young people with a variety of speech, language, and communication needs. * A team player with strong communication and collaborative skills who can work independently while effectively supporting colleagues and stakeholders. * A commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous improvement in care delivery. Person Specification Education/Qualification * Degree or equivalent and Licence to Practice – Royal College of Speech/Language Therapists * Current registered membership of HCPC and RCSLT * RCSLT NQP competencies completed (desirable) Make an Impact with CLCH!
