Essentially you are a one person in a van visiting customers across a region delivering high quality surface repairs and refinishings.These surfaces are often damaged during installation and construction, typically they are digs, holes, scuffs, gouges, or scratches in a surface; A bath, shower, door, window, floor, brick, stone, wood, metal, and plastic but may also include complete respraying of a door, window etc, or respraying of an entire kitchen, or more elementary repairs to antique furniture. Our preference This is mainly a practical role for a person with good hand to eye skills, attention to detail. The technician would ideally come to us with existing surface finishing skills, but this is not essential, WE PROVIDE FULL TRAINNING, however some experience is preferred, these capabilities may include previous experience in Cosmetic Surface Repair often referred to as SMART Repair, or vehicle detailing, vehicle spraying, French Polishing, Fine Finishing or a cosmetic surface repairer; often referred to as aPlastic Surgeon, perhaps you better than the average painter decorator. Alternatively, the candidate may have experience in the following. Powder Coating Wet spray work Furniture spraying Or just have a natural ability to achieve a high-quality finish and have attention to detail. The compromise Experience with vehicle refinishing, furniture spraying, or cosmetic SMART repair is an advantage but not essential, the candidate may have good hand to eye skills and is looking for a new career. After initial induction, the technician will begin our basic training program, the length of this will largely depend on the skills and adaptability of the candidate, but generally runs for 6 weeks. Some of this training will be delivered at our training workshop in Exeter, the remainder out in the field on site with our experienced technicians. After the basic training is completed, the technician will be required to attend customers properties to carry out quality surface repairs and refinishing to baths showers doors windows and much more, all of this in accordance with our company procedures. Of course, we will tailor the jobs to suit the candidates abilities, and there is always a supportive network to help with any challenging jobs, in time you would become one of our highly skilled technicians travelling to our customers delivering in-situ repairs and resprays. What will you be doing from day to day In essence you will be driving from your home in our company van to the customers address to repair their chipped, scratched or damaged surface, these are normally small areas of damage about the size of a 20 pence piece, the idea is that you will make the damage disappear, restoring the surface back to its new perfect condition, dont be concerned, we will show you what to do and how to do it. you will regularly check your APP which delivers jobs to your phone, along with checking your phone for emails, missed calls and messages, we work in a fast passed industry meeting just in time demands. You will arrive on site at the customers address by no later than 830am and carry out the repair or list of repairs as set out in your APP/job description. After the work is complete you will, invite the customer to check your work and if happy sign your work sheet (app), you should then call the office to inform the works are complete and take further instructions for your next job.After your works are completed in the allocated time slots, typically 2, 4 hours or 8-hour slots, you will drive home when the day is completed. You will need to ensure your van is checked, cleaned and roadworthy, you will need to place orders to ensure your onboard stocks are maintained, you will ensure all your equipment and materials are in good working order and maintained to a high standard. You will wear company uniform and maintain a high standard representing the company at all times. What to expect A full-time position, which is both interesting and rewarding. The technician will be issued with a contact of employment, Training, Company Van, and Fuel Card (business use only), Uniform, PPE, Tools, Materials. All jobs are issues via an APP to the technicians mobile phone. The work is varied, we look after customers across Avon, Somerset, Devon, and Cornwall. The Technician should attend the customer by no later than 830 in the morning and ensure they complete the time slot allocated to the customer. The hours of work will vary, some longer days, and some shorter days, this will depend on the customers proximity to the technicians home, the task to be completed, and the technicians ability. We operate Monday Friday, but during peak demand there will be occasional overtime on a Saturday. Technical support will always be on hand by either telephone or physical interaction with other trained technicians or your line manager, this is to ensure that you deal with each situation effectively. Most challenges you are presented with can be easily dealt with over the phone with a fellow technician and using the camera on the mobile phone to help communicate and explain any question or concern. In most cases the technician will complete all of the tasks well within the 2-, 4- or 8-hours slot, this will allow time to either move onto the next task, or where applicable contact the office for updates. Pay; good rates of pay typically £12 £16 per hour (this is negotiable based on abilities) What is expected of us We aim to invisibly repair, refinish or respray damaged hard surfaces in-situ, these are found in or around a property or building, mostly for the new build sector, but also for private customers, commercial and industrial. We repair all manner of surfaces including Chips, Gouges or Scrapes to Worktops, Baths, Doors, Windows and more.. we fix substrates including Metal, Wood, Plastic, Stone, Laminate, and much more, we comply will all expected legislation, health and safety. What is expected of you Sharp tidy appearance. Honest Healthy Non-smoker Clean driving licence (max 3 points) for insurance purposes 25 years or older Safe courteous driver Enthusiastic Proactive and dedicated Responsible Pleasant Helpful Self-managing Organised and Tidy Efficient Flexible A good communicator Approachable Not colourblind (required to mix and match paint) training will be provided. Highly dexterous (very good hand to eye skills) Suitable for a fast-moving just-in-time industry. Comfortable climbing a ladder and working at height. Able to satisfy DBS formerly CRB. Hold a CSCS card, Preferred but not essential as one will be arranged. A good work ethic So, summing up this job is open mostly to anyone who has practical hand to eye skills, and preferably experience in the finishing industry but not exclusively experienced with spray application, this position offers variety, security, and a good salary, most of the time the technician will be working on their own, but usually alongside other trades, and often in the vicinity of homeowners and customers, you will be part of a growing dynamic team of specialists working across the South West of England delivering first class repairs and re-finishings.
