Salary:
Band 6: £50,485.50 - £52,552.50 per annum
Band 7: £53,176.50 - £55,789.50 per annum
Location: Greenwich, South East London
Hours: Full-Time (37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with flexible scheduling available)
Summary
Appoint Healthcare is pleased to partner with a leading national provider of health and social care services, supporting individuals with neurological and mental health needs, as well as learning disabilities. We are currently offering an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Occupational Therapist ( OT ), with experience equivalent to Band 6 or Band 7, to join our dedicated and supportive therapy team at our Neurological Rehabilitation Centre in Greenwich.
Our state-of-the-art facility features a 19-bed Level 1 Highly Specialist Cognitive-Behavioural ward and an 18-bed Level 2 Neurorehabilitation ward, both designed to provide specialized care for patients with physical and cognitive impairments resulting from acquired or traumatic brain injuries.
Role Overview
As a Specialist OT, you will be an integral part of an enthusiastic, supportive, and highly experienced multidisciplinary team (including neurology, neuropsychiatry, neuropsychology, nursing, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and social work). You will apply complex clinical reasoning in assessment, rehabilitation, and discharge planning, managing your own caseload across both wards.
Work Hours & Flexible Working
The standard working week is 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday. We recognize the importance of work-life balance and encourage discussions about flexible working arrangements to suit personal or professional commitments.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement safe, innovative, evidence-based treatments grounded in the principles of neuroplasticity and motor re-learning.
Plan and prioritise a complex clinical caseload.
Assist the multidisciplinary team (MDT) in diagnosis, problem formulation, and rehabilitation planning.
Act as a Key Worker/Named Therapist to coordinate and manage therapeutic programs aimed at achieving agreed rehabilitation goals.
Play a crucial role in planning safe discharges for patients.
Prescribe and provide necessary equipment to support patient rehabilitation.
Collaborate within the MDT to support service development.
Maintain accurate records and clinical notes in line with company policy and RCOT guidelines.
Ensure effective communication with patients, families, the MDT, and external agencies.
Contribute to the in-service education and training programs for the wider MDT.
Supervise junior staff, including assistants and students.
Safeguard patients' wellbeing and protect their human rights.
Requirements
HCPC registration
RCOT registration
Previous experience in a neurorehabilitation setting
Ability to motivate patients over extended periods
Successful candidates will undergo an Enhanced DBS check
