Risk Manager (Risk Mitigation Lead) Civil Engineering - AMP 8 Water framework Durham, North East England Are you looking for an exciting new risk management position? This opportunity as the Risk Mitigation Lead for one of the key Civil Engineering Partners on the Northumbrian Water £3.6billion AMP8 Water framework. Working directly with their client in the Durham Head office. About the role of Risk Manager Responsible for ensuring that the ambitious, high-quality plan is delivered with resilience built-in as standard. The Risk Lead will co-ordinate a shared methodology for risk and value analysis. They will identify all possible disruption and uncertainty regarding delivery of the high-quality plan, and ensure mitigation is identified, monitoring the delivery. They will ensure that the client has robust business continuity plans, leveraging the unique value proposition of the Enterprise's multiple partners. Responsibilities for Risk Manager Deliverables Develop a resilience integration plan to enhance the client's ability to withstand disruption and uncertainty Establish risk appetite criteria and trigger points. Recommend an appropriate road map to achieve desired risk management maturity for the client. Risk Analysis of the client's High-Quality Plan, including scenario planning and mitigating actions Cultivate an environment where risks are effectively managed, monitored, and reported. Facilitate continuous improvement and lessons learnt Exit/ Project completion framework and collation of outcomes Involvement in Gates 1-4 to ensure risk mitigation throughout value engineering process Analysis of beyond-cost outcomes (Carbon, Social etc.), working closely with workstream leads to ensure respective plans have considered potential risks.Leadership Effective leadership for the programme, through development of a high-performance teams culture. Demonstrate creative thinking to attain new levels of delivery performance. Requirements for the Risk Manager You will be degree level qualified with proven experience of working in a complex risk management project environment. As an individual you will have strong analytical and the ability to produce easy to read insight across a range of stakeholders. The ability to write and present compelling documents is also essential. You will have experience working in a regulatory environment and leading business improvement, it's also required you have a track record of assessing potential disruptors to mitigate risk. You will have experience of operating at senior leader level holding strong leadership, communication and negotiation skills. As an individual you will be results, outcome and process focused with the ability to look for ways of improving results and process. Its essential you understand risk management principles such as frameworks, efficiency gain and protocols. You will have an in depth understanding of risk management (PACED), commercial assurance, engineering contract management, different contract forms and BCP regulatory compliance. The ability to distinguish between risk appetite, tolerance and capacity is required, as is explaining how risk management supports agility and innovation. You must also understand risk management standards including ISO 31000. BENEFICIAL It would be beneficial to have an understanding of Northumbrian Water Group business plan, AMP8 delivery programme and sector trends. Experience of using a Risk Management Information System (RMIS) would be useful. A track record of using NEC suite of contracts would be great, as would having multi-disciplinary experience. An understanding of the role of internal audit and assurance models such as the Three Lines of Defence model would be beneficial to the role. It would be useful for the role holder to hold an understanding of control effectiveness techniques
