CADCAM Engineer/ Draughtsman
On behalf of Our client on the outskirts of Cosham we are looking to recruit an experienced CADCAM Engineer/ Draughtsman. This is a permanent role in a growing engineering company that produce high precision, bespoke, low volume parts and are regularly investing into the business and their staff. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in CADCAM software & design/drafting, Technical Support and reverse engineering within component manufacturing. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in updating drawings, maintaining records, and supporting shop floor production.
CADCAM Engineer/ Draughtsman Key Responsibilities:
- Create and update technical drawings and models using CAD software based on component samples and specifications.
- Utilise CAM software to prepare machine programs and set up production processes.
- Working with 3d cad models and 2d drawings
- Conduct reverse engineering of components from samples to develop accurate technical drawings and documentation.
- Analyse component designs to identify areas for improvement or modification.
- Maintain comprehensive records of all drawings, specifications, and design changes in accordance with company procedures.
- Ensure all documentation is up-to-date and accessible for reference by team members.
- Provide technical assistance to shop floor technicians, facilitating the use of CAD/CAM tools and techniques.
- Assist in troubleshooting and problem-solving related to component production and design, and QA issues.
- Work closely with engineering and production teams to ensure designs are feasible and meet manufacturing capabilities.
- Participate in team meetings to discuss project progress, design challenges, and solutions.
- Stay informed about advancements in CAD/CAM technology and industry best practices to enhance productivity and efficiency.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives aimed at optimising production workflows.
CADCAM Engineer/ Draughtsman Experience required
- Solid engineering background, preferably component manufacturing and machining environment.
- Proficiency in CAD and CAM software/ all software backgrounds considered as software training can be given (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Mastercam)
- Experience in reverse engineering and component manufacturing processes would be an advantage.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Recognised formal production engineering qualification, Industrial manufacturing design, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Good communication skills with ability to work in a team environment.
