Job Requirements / Description
This outline sets forth clear expectations and strategies for leadership and process improvement in a CNC Milling Department:
Leadership, Management, and Accountability (LMA):
Leaders focus on upholding core values and embracing the organization’s niche and target goals. This involves improving the five key leadership and management abilities as outlined by the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS).
Quarterly conversations with team members strengthen communication and accountability, while filling in for absent team members as needed supports continuity in operations.
Standardizing Work Practices and Programming Methods:
Leaders and team members work together to optimize methods for work holding, tooling, machining, and CAD/CAM programming. Streamlined procedures and shared standards for programming and filing promote consistency.
This requires coordination to resolve any technical or quality issues and implementing cross-training to enhance team adaptability.
Building a Cohesive Team:
Fostering a collaborative environment involves coaching team members on effective communication and decision-making to facilitate productive debate and aligned actions.
Assisting the team directly to meet production targets and covering for absences when needed encourages an atmosphere of teamwork and reliability.
Enhancing Quality Outcomes:
Quality improvement focuses on hands-on support with inspections and process audits. A proactive mindset around quality standards pushes the team toward "better-than-norm" standards.
Regularly conducting 8D-NCR investigations and adhering to ISO9001:2015 procedures ensures continuous quality improvement.
Improving Departmental Processes:
The collection and analysis of key performance metrics allow for ongoing workflow enhancements.
"Lean" production processes simplify operations, and daily departmental meetings, along with quarterly reviews and project initiatives, keep teams aligned with goals and improvement actions.
Each of these responsibilities enhances the Milling Department's productivity, quality, and cohesiveness. This approach ensures that team members contribute effectively to shared goals while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability
