The Groucho Club is seeking a proactive and experienced Engineering and Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance and upkeep of our iconic venue, including both internal and external aspects of the building. This role requires a self-motivated individual with excellent project management skills who can manage both planned and reactive maintenance, coordinate contractors, and ensure the club’s facilities are maintained to the highest standards.
The Engineering and Maintenance Manager will ensure compliance with Health & Safety standards, manage all maintenance records, and work closely with our operations team to create a seamless, well-maintained environment for our members and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure the property is well-maintained visually and physically, overseeing all aspects of building and grounds maintenance.
Lead and support the maintenance team, providing hands-on assistance with minor repairs, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry work.
Manage contractors on-site for maintenance projects, ensuring timely and high-quality completion.
Conduct regular room inspections and audits to ensure all areas meet required standards.
Oversee and maintain appropriate stock levels for all maintenance-related supplies.
Ensure full compliance with Fire and Health & Safety regulations, working closely with the Health & Safety Committee.
Monitor and manage PPM schedules (Planned Preventative Maintenance) for all areas, including building systems, fire alarms, and plant equipment.
Respond to maintenance emergencies and be available for on-call duties outside of standard hours as needed.
Experience:
Proven experience in a Engineering and Maintenance Manager role within a hospitality, club, or hotel setting.
Strong technical knowledge in general maintenance tasks (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, etc.).
Familiarity with Health & Safety standards and best practices.
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong leadership skills with experience managing a maintenance team and external contractors.
Ability to work well under pressure and remain composed in challenging situations.
Proficiency in project management and maintenance tracking tools.
Excellent communication skills, able to collaborate with various departments.
