Environmental Advisor Location: Heathrow Airport The Role Ferrovial Construction is looking for Environmental Advisor to lead on a variety of major UK infrastructure projects while ensuring that the projects are delivered in compliance with our EMS. You will work under the supervision of the Environmental Manager and support them in the review and preparation of environmental documents, undertaking site assurance visits and report writing. Heathrow Airport Ferrovial Construction has been working at Heathrow Airport for over 10 years delivering some of the most complex infrastructure projects to high quality, safety, and environmental standards. We have focused on design and build projects with a mix of contractual arrangements. This has enabled us to refine our management procedures in response to Heathrow’s Employers Requirements and Ferrovial Construction own internal management systems. Since joining Heathrow’s framework in 2014, Ferrovial Construction has delivered a variety of airside and landside projects across the whole airport. For example, we have delivered new taxiways and rehabilitated existing taxiways and the southern runway. We have also redeveloped sterile and grass areas and replaced critical assets, such as fire main, fuel main and HV ducts. We are currently working alongside Heathrow to rehabilitate assets with expired design life’s and plan for a future runway resurfacing project. We are constantly designing and planning our works around critical assets and engaging with different key stakeholders in order to deliver Heathrow value for money. Key Accountabilities: * Contribute to the achievement of the Environmental objectives in accordance with company policy and procedures. * Promote continuous improvement of environmental performance on specific projects. Be familiar with and promote current environmental legislation best practices. * To assist in writing and reviewing environmental documentation including Environmental Management Plans, Site Waste Management Plan, Dewatering Management Plan etc. * To support the development of briefing and communication strategies to ensure environmental plans and important information is understood and operated by all employees and subcontractors. * To assist in monitoring compliance of construction works on site and relevant documentation in accordance with Works Information, Ferrovial standards and relevant Technical Standards * To assist in carrying out environmental and sustainability reports for the senior team To support the Project Environmental Manager with investigations and audits. To advise on Environmental requirements and best practice, promoting a continuous improvement culture across the site team and Innovation * Support the development of measurement systems to ensure that environmental performance is accurately monitored (e.g. SmartWaste, internal trackers etc.) * Support incident investigations, ensuring the comprehensive gathering of supporting evidence material. * To promote customer requirements throughout the business. Adopting and promoting Ferrovial Construction UK Vision and Values. * Taking ownership of the work assigned to you. Adhering to safe working practice regulations on-site and ensuring that all staff comply with the same. * Support Ferrovial Construction Environmental and Sustainability policies and procedures Skills and Competence: We are looking for an advisor with: * Excellent communication skills and ability to interact at a variety of levels. * Excellent written and oral English language * Degree or Masters (All disciplines considered) * Right to work in the UK & Ireland * Motivated to learn and add value to the team. Analytical thing and problem solving * A proven team player who can effectively work with others. * Works well under pressure to meet deadlines. Proactive approach to working and learning. * Commercial awareness and an understanding of the industry. Familiar with all Microsoft packages Interpersonal Skills: * Highly motivated * Logical thinker with a willingness to learn. * Resilient and a flexible approach to working. * Results driven with strong communication skills. * Work independently with minimal supervision Desirable: * Membership of IEMA or similar * Knowledge of environmental legislation. Knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation * Environmental experience.
