Teaching Assistant (Youth Worker - Behaviour Support)

Job Description: Potter Johnson Education is recruiting on behalf of a specialist secondary school in NW9, Kingsbury for a Teaching Assistant with a background in Youth Work to support students who have been excluded from mainstream education. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers to support students with challenging behaviours, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment tailored to their needs. Responsibilities: * Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with behavioural challenges, helping them engage with classroom activities. * Assist teachers in delivering lessons and implementing behaviour management strategies for students who have been excluded from mainstream schools. * Build positive relationships with students to encourage their personal development, resilience, and educational engagement. * Implement de-escalation techniques and manage challenging behaviours in a calm and supportive manner. Requirements: * Experience: Proven experience as a Youth Worker or Teaching Assistant in an educational or youth setting, particularly with students who have been excluded from mainstream schools due to behavioural issues. * Enhanced DBS Check: A current Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service is mandatory. Skills: * Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with students facing behavioural challenges. * Knowledge of behaviour management and de-escalation techniques, such as Team Teach. * An understanding of youth development principles and experience working with at-risk youth. Desirable: * Additional training or certification in youth work or behaviour management. * Familiarity with safeguarding and child protection protocols
