Working closely with Senior Operational Management and Finance Business Partners in the division, you will lead improvements in project accounting advising the business on setting up projects accurately with correct revenue and profitability as well as enhancing project reporting quality, profitability and improving cashflow. To succeed in the role we will expect a highly commercially experienced background in contracts demonstrating how the quality of project accounting has been enhanced in a previous role. As well as project and commercial management you will be able to build bid models that maximise commercial scoring whilst increasing the profitability of the business. This position will suit someone who is a self starter who is able to work autonomously from finance working closely with operations whilst advising the finance function on their findings and improvements that can be made both in projecting accounting and commercially. What you’ll be doing: Advising operations on the setting up of projects in Oracle ensuring accurate revenue, costs and profit. Planning and organising projects with an emphasis on quality processes and outcomes ensuring the monthly project reporting and key KPIs are accurately prepared and are reviewed in detail. Ensure projects align to contracts in terms of revenue, scope and cash flow whilst advising on improvements in pricing strategies to improve margins. Analyse key KPIs using them to analyse costs, fees, project margins and the division’s performance compared to business targets. Obtain robust explanations for any significant trends/variations to target or forecast for each project. Providing proactive advice to senior managers interpreting financial information to managerial staff while recommending further courses of action. Perform monthly accrued revenue and debtor reviews on projects based upon a risk focused rotation plan improving debtor days Assist operations to resolve issues/queries on operation of a version of Oracle and lead on training in the offices to enhance the knowledge of the Operational directors, Project managers and business support staff. Prepare complex excel bid models for operations providing insight into areas to increase commercial scoring suggesting and implementing improvements. Who we’re looking for: Qualified ACA / ACCA / CIMA Can demonstrate experience in improving project accounting in a previous role particularly in complex project accounting software ie Oracle Strong people skills with ability to coach, mentor and motivate non finance individuals in a high performing team. Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise and co-ordinate multiple tasks and confident to work independently. Strong ability to problem solve effectively. Positive, proactive and flexible approach. A self-starter that can cope well with changing and conflicting priorities Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and ability to build effective working relationships with both finance and non-finance colleagues and work in a collaborative way but also the proven ability to influence at a senior level. Previous experience as a Finance Manager or similar managing teams is essential.
