We have an exciting opportunity within our logistics team for a new Outbound Logistics Manager. Reporting to the General Operations Manager, you will be managing the delivery and despatch of finished goods, ensuring smooth transportation and excellent customer service. Hours of work are 7am to 4pm Monday to Friday and this role offers an attractive salary and bonus structure. Main Duties and Responsibilities: Despatch Operations: Oversee and manage the despatch of finished kitchen furniture from our facilities, ensuring that products are packaged, labelled, and ready for shipment in a timely manner. Transportation Management: Coordinate and manage relationships with third-party logistics (3PL) providers, couriers, and transport companies to ensure efficient and cost-effective delivery across the UK and Ireland. Delivery Scheduling: Plan and optimise delivery routes, schedules, and loads to ensure timely and accurate deliveries, minimising delays and reducing costs. Customer Service: Work closely with the sales and customer service teams to meet delivery expectations, address delivery issues, and ensure customers receive their products on time and in excellent condition. Carrier Management: Negotiate contracts and service-level agreements (SLAs) with transport partners, ensuring the best value and service for the company. Delivery Tracking & Reporting: Implement and manage tracking systems for outbound deliveries, providing regular updates to customers and internal stakeholders on delivery statuses. Report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery rates, delivery accuracy, and customer feedback. Cost Control: Monitor and control outbound logistics costs, identifying opportunities to reduce transportation expenses while maintaining service quality. Compliance & Health & Safety: Ensure all despatch and delivery operations comply with UK and Irish transport regulations, health & safety standards, and environmental requirements. Team Leadership: Manage and lead a team of despatch and delivery staff, ensuring efficient daily operations and fostering a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement. Continuous Improvement: Review and enhance despatch and delivery processes, identifying areas for improvement in efficiency, cost reduction, and customer satisfaction. Implement new technologies and systems where appropriate to streamline operations. Essential Criteria of Successful Candidate: Bachelors degree in Logistics, Transport Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience). A minimum of 5 years experience in outbound logistics, transport management or despatch, preferably in the furniture, manufacturing or similar industry. Experience in managing despatch and deliveries within the furniture or manufacturing sectors is desirable. Experience of building and leading teams to success. Experience of leading change and driving continuous improvement. Proficient in logistics management software, route planning tools, and delivery tracking systems. Strong organisational and planning skills to manage multiple deliveries, coordinate resources, and meet tight deadlines Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to manage relationships with transport providers, internal teams, and customers. A proactive approach to resolving transport or despatch issues, minimising delays, and ensuring customer satisfaction. Familiarity with UK and Irish transport regulations, including customs requirements for cross-border shipments. Willingness to travel as needed to oversee despatch operations or manage logistics challenges. Positive and motivational. Strategic thinker. Preferred Certifications: CILT or IoSCM qualifications are advantageous but not essential.
