Head of Software

Our client is a nice, and exciting vehicle manufacturer, based in Battersea London. As part of their on-going growth plan they are looking to recruit a high-performing Head of Software to join their team. With a world class team of design engineers with a prestigious background in performance automotive and motorsport, a strong order book, and funding to complete the next phase of the company’s high-growth trajectory. They are now building a high-performing core team to grow the company and support the design and delivery of our game-changing vehicles around the world. The Role We are seeking a hard-working, driven and committed Head of Software Engineering who is keen to get involved with all aspects of Software and Electrical systems design and development who can develop a highly skilled and proactive Electrical and Software team within the company. The client is a dynamic, exciting startup and our activities and ways of working reflect that. Key Responsibilities •The primary purpose is to be responsible for software and electrical systems development and delivery into the vehicles and test equipment • Excellent understanding of automotive control software and EV technology • Highly experienced in automotive architectures and communications protocols to include CAN, LIN, Flexray, Ethernet • Strong levels of knowledge and understanding of UDS, ISO14229, DOIP • Proven capability of vehicle analysis using Vector based tools (or similar), such as CANalyzer, CANape, CANoe • A high level of competency with scripting languages such as CAPL, Python, VBA • Extensive experience with Matlab/Simulink based systems and development • Proficient with HIL test rigs and on-vehicle debugging activities • Demonstratable experience with High Voltage safety systems, hazard analysis and FMEA • High level of understanding of BMS software and control/integration methodologies Essential Attributes • Engineering qualification, preferably to degree level • Ready to get involved in with all aspects of an early-stage start-up • Obsessed about delivery, with an attitude of ownership • Detail oriented, data-driven, with effective communication skills • Personable, and able to get along well with all kinds of people • Experience working in start-ups or low volume manufacturing, preferably in automotive or motorsport Desirable Attributes • Experience of working in motorsport; an appreciation of immovable timescales with a desire to perform • UK driving license Location & Hours • Full time • Primary location of work will be Battersea, London • Offsite and overseas working will be required as part of this role
