Job DescriptionRole Title: Senior Principal Project ControllerLocation: Bristol or Farnborough- 2 to 3 days per week onsiteDuration: 12 monthsClearance required: SC ClearedDay rate: £500 per day via umbrella companyOverall Purpose of the Job:The role is responsible for the delivery of Project Control, scheduling and EVM administration & supportacross all projects and programmesKey Accountabilities:Leading by example, communicating purpose and expectations, developing and motivating the team,creating inclusivity, participation and involvement and encouraging innovation and creativityUndertaking tasks and activities, as required, in the delivery of planning & schedulingChampioning Best Practice and applying lessons learned within the team, with programme and projectteams and other key delivery partnersDeveloping and maintaining regular, open and positive lines of communication within the team, with theleadership, programme and project teams and other key delivery partnersManaging, motivating and coordinating the team to achieve specified objectivesEngaging, mentoring and supporting the team in their career development and providing guidance thatenables the transfer of learning into effective practice for the teamWorking knowledge of programme management principles and how project planning, scheduling andcontrol activities underpin themMaintain project schedules and keep project resources on track, provide regular project updates tostakeholders, and maintain contact with the team to monitor job progress.Integrate multiple schedules into a master project schedule, including baselining, status andperformance measurement baselinesExecute EVM using the company tool (Cobra)Produce EVM reports and execute project controls in alignment with ANSI 748 32 guidelinesAnalyse EVM and provide EVM analysis support and guidance to the Project TeamUsing EVM techniques such as Cost Performance Index (CPI), Schedule Performance Index (SPI),Estimate at Completion (EAC) and Estimate to Complete (ETC)Support customer/internal IBR'sDetailed knowledge of a number of technical areas, such as: project controls, EVM, governance andassurance, risk analysis and management, cost management/control/reporting, benchmarking, dataanalysis and reporting.Significant knowledge of the development and delivery of complex project schedules using proprietaryplanning tools, specifically PPM2016 or Primavera P6 - to enable the definition and implementation ofsoftware management processes and proceduresDevelopment and reporting of project schedule data to senior stakeholders (operating at IDT lead,Director level and above) in a complex projects environmentSuccessful outcomes of this role:Up-to-date, accurate, reliable and timely outputs that are trusted and accepted by the leadership,programme and project teams in support of projects up to LCM Level 4Planning & Scheduling outputs that contribute to meeting or exceeding business plan revenue andmargin targets for projects up to LCM Level 4Troubleshoot and monitor potential scheduling problemsExecute EVM and produce timely reportsProvide detailed explanations of project variances and propose corrective actions to keep the project ontrack.Development, introduction and implementation of project schedule analytics and reportingmethodologies and techniques (such as Critical Path analysis)Established and regular engagement with the leadership, programme and project teams for projects upto LCM Level 4Person SpecificationEssential Education and Qualifications:Bachelor degree or equivalent or 10 years' relevant experienceProgramme or Project Controls Qualification - Practitioner or equivalentProject management qualification; APM membership desirable.Experience of operating as a project or programme scheduler in a complex environmentExperience of managing a complex project or programme is desirableStrong understanding of EVM principles and metricsCompetencies:Has an in-depth knowledge of the following competence in complex situations:Schedule ManagementResource ManagementConsolidated PlanningReviewsChange ControlEVMHas a detailed knowledge of the following competence in complex situations:Ethics, Compliance & ProfessionalismTeam ManagementConflict ManagementLeadershipBudget & Cost ControlContract ManagementFinancial & Cost ManagementResource Capacity PlanningStakeholder & Communication ManagementOperating within PMOLine ManagementMS Office SoftwarePerformance Management & EVMHas a comprehensive knowledge of the following competence in situations of limited complexity: Frameworks & Methodologies Capability Development Operating within P3M Project Management Matrix Management
