Mechanical technician

Job Title: Mechanical Technician Location: Stevenage Salary: Up to £42,000 Duration: Permanent/Full-time Sector: Engineering The Opportunity: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Technician to join our team in Stevenage. This is a fantastic role for a skilled technician looking to work within a dynamic and fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for maintaining, servicing, and repairing mechanical systems, ensuring all work meets the highest standards of safety and efficiency. Responsibilities: * Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on a variety of mechanical systems and equipment. * Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical faults in a timely manner. * Conducting regular inspections and ensuring systems are operating safely and efficiently. * Assisting with the installation and commissioning of new mechanical equipment. * Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and maintaining accurate service records. * Working closely with other technicians and departments to ensure seamless operations. * Responding to reactive maintenance requests and ensuring minimal downtime for critical systems. * Keeping up to date with technical standards and developments in mechanical engineering. Skills and Qualifications: * Proven experience as a Mechanical Technician, ideally in a commercial or industrial setting. * Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including HVAC, pumps, compressors, and boilers. * Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics. * NVQ or City & Guilds qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. * Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance and repairs. * Strong understanding of health and safety standards in engineering environments. * Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. * Qualified to HNC or appropriate apprenticeship level in mechanical engineering.
