SEMH Teaching Assistant
Specialist SEND school
Lambeth
Full-time
Start date: Flexible
£90 - £110 per day
A specialist school for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in Lambeth are looking for experienced SEMH Teaching Assistants to join their school to support their pupils on a long-term basis.
The Role
In this role you will be supporting various pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs on a 1 to 1 and small group basis. Pupils attending the school have been temporarily or permanently excluded from mainstream school settings and you will need to be committed to improving the lives of those affected by emotional trauma or mental health.
They are ideally looking for someone with a background in youth work or previous experience in a SEMH support role, who can provide support whilst maintaining high expectations.
Sports/PE coaches are also welcome to apply as physical activities are an integral part of daily activities for the students.
You need to have a positive and resilient approach with the ability to build relationships and de-escalate situations.
The School
This all-through alternative provision in Lambeth provides education for pupils with social, emotional, behavioural needs who are unable to attend mainstream school settings.
The school is set over two sites and has good facilities with a personalised approach to meet the needs of the pupils. Many learners join the school after an interrupted education due to regular fixed term exclusions, disruptive behaviour or SEN needs that have not been met or identified. The school also offers respite placements on both sites across the key stages.
There is an established leadership team and both teaching and support staff benefit from working in a wider trust that can support their training and development.
We have a policy to respond to all applications within three working days. However, because of the volume of applications, we are sometimes unable to reply to individual enquiries. If we have not contacted you within this specified time your application has been unsuccessful on this occasion. Philosophy Education is a Recruitment Business and is advertising this vacancy on behalf of one of its clients
