Job Title: Specialist Senior Support Worker Location: Carlisle House Substance Misuse Treatment Centre Council: Social Witness Salary Scale: £ per annum Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Monday Friday, 9am 5pm) 1 year contract initially, may be extended Responsible to: Director of Carlisle House MAIN FUNCTION OF JOB To provide therapeutic interventions within a Substance Misuse Residential Treatment Programme. To ensure the execution of excellent standards of care, to promote dignity and respect, and to engage with Service Users in the process of change through building a strong collaborative therapeutic alliance. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES Service Provision 1. To work within an Integrative Systemic / Collaborative model of treatment when engaging with Service Users. 2. To assist in the admission and induction of service users to the residential substance Use treatment programme, in accordance with Carlisle House policies and procedures. 3. To assist Link Workers in the developing, reviewing and updating of treatment plans as required, promoting Service User strengths and expertise. 4. To assist in the discharge process of service users, liaising with other professionals in organising post programme supports 5. To participate in the feedback process with service users as appropriate, in collaboration with other team members. 6. To co-ordinate post programme support groups as required 7. To respond to Helpline calls as required Medication 1. To assist in the day to day management of medicines: ensuring medicines are appropriately received, stored and administered, in accordance with Carlisle House policies and current legislation and guidelines. 2. To collect medication prescriptions from GPs and Pharmacies as required 3. To assist in the completion of medication audits in line with RQIA requirements. 4. To undertake health checks with regard to Service Users participating in physical activities. 5. To carry out alcohol/drug screening tests in accordance with Carlisle House policies and procedures when required. 6. To ensure a rigorous monitoring and recording practice is adhered to. Team Work / Supervision / Training 1. To participate in training courses and staff meetings as appropriate. 2. To promote a cohesive team approach, and a welcoming atmosphere to all Service Users, their families and staff. 3. To engage as a reflective practitioner participating in continual professional development and meeting the requirements of professional requirements. 4. To meaningfully engage in supervision 5. To adhere to Health and Safety policies and procedures. 6. To attend am and pm handovers and facilitate as required 7. To supervise volunteers as required Additional Duties 1. To fulfil role of person-in-charge when required 2. To be available for sleep-in duties if required 3. To provide support to Grays Court Supported Living Accommodation when required 4. To be willing to work within the ethos of the Carlisle House and the Presbyterian Council of Social Witness CRITERIA 1. QUALIFICATIONS AND KNOWLEDGE Essential Grade C GCSE English and Maths or equivalent Desirable Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care Certificate in Higher Education in Computing and IT or equivalent 2. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING Essential Knowledge and understanding of substance use theories and treatments Desirable Knowledge and understanding of systemic practice 3. RELEVANT EXPERIENCE Essential At least two years experience of working in a supportive environment where adults have experienced mental health or substance use difficulties. Experience of maintaining records electronically Experience of working with other professionals / stakeholder Desirable Experience of undertaking Safety Assessments. Experience of receiving, recording and the administration of medication. 4. SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES Essential Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and sleepovers. Registration or be willing to register with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council.
