SEN Teaching Assistant

Vision for Education is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant secondary school in Cardiff, specialising in supporting students with additional learning needs. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are passionate about making a meaningful impact in the lives of young people facing various challenges. Key Responsibilities: Individual and Group Support: Provide tailored support to students with diverse learning difficulties, both one-to-one and in group settings, to help them achieve their educational goals. Development of IEPs: Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) that cater to each student’s unique needs. Behaviour Management: Employ effective strategies to promote positive behaviour, creating a nurturing environment that fosters personal growth and social development. Academic Assistance: Support students in their academic work, helping them engage with the curriculum and develop essential skills. Personal Care Support: Assist with personal care needs as required, ensuring students feel safe, respected, and dignified. Collaboration: Work closely with teachers and parents to ensure cohesive support for each student. Ideal Candidate: Experience: Previous experience working with individuals with additional learning needs in an educational setting is essential. Behaviour Management Skills: Strong understanding of managing challenging behaviours and implementing effective interventions. Adaptability: Ability to work flexibly and respond to the varying needs of students throughout the day. Communication Skills: A caring attitude with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Qualifications: A Level 2/3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent is desirable. Experience and a passion for supporting SEN students are equally valuable.
