Morson Talent is partnering with a leading aerospace client in the Barrow area to recruit their next skilled Machinist. Job Title: In-Situ Machinist Duration: 12 Months Rates will vary due to different shift patterns. £27.40-£40.00+ Location: Barrow in Furness, LA14 1AF Role Description The role holder: • To conduct machining activities on-board the submarine units, using machines best suited to the task in accordance with the skills of the relevant In-situ Machinist. To work to drawing tolerances/parameters and quality requirements. Core Duties The role holder: • Work safely at all times, complying with Health and Safety and other relevant regulations and guidelines. • Follow the relevant instructions, drawings and any other specifications. • Use the appropriate methods and techniques to conduct machining activities. • Check the completed activity to ensure that all operations have been completed to meet the required specification. • Use associated tools and equipment safely and effectively Knowledge: • Problem Solving - you objectively identify problems • Influencing - Communicate thoughts and ideas clearly • Initiative - you take considered actions • Developing people - you transfer information to others, improving their performance. • Earning Trust - you demonstrate openness and honesty, and adhere to the Code of Conduct. • Teamwork – you demonstrate openness to teamwork and collaboration • Using and interpreting engineering data and documentation • Working to standards – You complete the work allocated to you to the standards required • Environmental Care – You take personal responsibility on environmental issues. • Working Safely – You are conscientious and take responsibility for your own safety and those working around you. Skills: • Reading / understanding technical drawings • Use of measuring equipment • Understanding unit of measurements (metric & imperial) • Knowledge of speeds and feeds for various materials • Identifying correct tooling • Use of hand tools • Check / maintain machinery for functionality • Waste management • Manual handling • Marking off • Awareness of Dreadnought cleanliness and material segregation requirements • Flange facing operations • Line boring operations • In-Situ Milling operations • Pipe cutting/Bevelling operations • Journal Turning • Key Milling Qualifications: • Served and Approved Apprenticeship (In-situ machinist, Machinist, Mechanical, Fitter/Turner) • NVQ Level 3 Equivalent Qualification (In relevant subject) Behaviours • Creativity - Seeks and shares new and useful ideas • Adaptability - Demonstrates personal adaptability • Collaboration - Works collaboratively with others • Develops People - Develops oneself and helps guide others • Integrity - Adheres to organisational values and ethical principles of accountability, honesty, openness, and respect • Courage - Demonstrates self-awareness and personal conviction • Inspiration - Shows engagement, enthusiasm, and persistence • Strategic Vision – Demonstrates understanding of the business • Link to the companies behavioural framework
