Experienced Java developer Advocate of Agile development and XP practices such as TDD Proactive and inquisitive, willing to challenge the norm to help improve the way we work This is a hands-on role, combining Scrum team member, active technical leadership, people management and coaching a team of developers. As a key member of one of our Scrum teams you will define, build, and deploy new products and features that meet the needs of our expanding customer base. We’re based in a newly renovated office in Altrincham town centre that has been designed specifically for our modern hybrid working model with great tech, AV equipment, and flexible collaborative working spaces. First and foremost, you will be a strong and experienced Java Developer, but we’re not just looking for great coders. As a proactive and inquisitive Developer, you'll be passionate about collaborating with and contributing to the professional growth of your team. You'll also be comfortable working with other specialists such as UX Designers, product experts, Test Analysts and, of course, our customers. You'll be working on a modern JDK (we currently use Amazon Corretto 17) and with a variety of approaches such as pair programming, automated testing, and continuous integration - all backed by DevOps technologies such as Chef, Vagrant, Kubernetes, Terraform, Packer and Docker. As a Principal Developer you will be responsible for the growth of developers (e.g. regular 1-to-1 coaching sessions, setting objectives); be a strong contributor to technological and business advancement; and encourage/support developer participation in community forums and sessions. You also help in growing our teams further through our recruitment campaigns and promotion process.
