Job Overview
A General Maintenance Repair person is required by our client and will be responsible for performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks to ensure that buildings, facilities, and equipment are in good working condition. The job typically involves a mix of routine and emergency maintenance, requiring a range of skills in areas such as plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and general repairs. Key Responsibilities:
- Routine Maintenance:
- Perform regular inspections of premises and equipment.
- Conduct scheduled maintenance tasks such as cleaning, painting, and minor repairs.
- Repairs:
- Carry out repairs on electrical systems, plumbing, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.
- Fix structural damage, including doors, windows, walls, and flooring.
- Repair and replace faulty or damaged components.
- Emergency Maintenance:
- Respond promptly to emergency repair requests.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently to minimize downtime.
- Safety Compliance:
- Ensure all maintenance work complies with health and safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work, including risk assessments and safety checks.
- Coordination:
- Coordinate with external contractors for specialised repairs or projects.
- Assist in managing and maintaining inventory of maintenance supplies and tools.
- Customer Service:
- Interact professionally with building occupants and address their maintenance concerns.
- Provide updates and reports to the Management team on the status of ongoing work.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: Relevant qualifications in maintenance-related fields (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds).
- Experience: Proven experience in maintenance and repair work, ideally within a similar environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in a variety of maintenance tasks, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general repairs.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose issues and implement effective solutions.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work in various environments.
- Communication Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks.
- Driving License: A valid UK driving license
Working Conditions:
- Environment: Work may be indoors or outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather conditions.
- Safety: Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
