Job Summary:
Do you hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and have prior experience teaching pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?

Bookmark currently has a full-time vacancy at an outstanding SEN school in Mansfield. The school supports pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs (SEMH), Autism, ADHD, and Challenging Behaviour. QTS is essential; experience in SEN settings is desirable. However, any experienced teachers interested in working within Special Needs Settings are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver tailored lessons that meet the individual needs and abilities of students with special educational needs and disabilities.
Collaborate with the school's SEND department and other professionals to create and implement Individualised Education Plans (IEPs) for students.
Utilise a range of teaching strategies, resources, and assistive technologies to engage and support students in their learning.
Adapt and differentiate instruction to accommodate different learning styles and abilities, providing additional support or challenges as needed.
Employ effective behaviour management techniques and create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes active participation and respect.
Assess and track student progress through ongoing observation, formative assessments, and individualised targets, providing feedback and support for improvement.
Communicate regularly and effectively with parents/guardians, other teachers, and support staff regarding student progress, achievements, and areas for development.
Collaborate with external professionals, such as speech and language therapists or occupational therapists, to support students' specific needs.
Keep accurate records of student progress, achievements, and any interventions or accommodations provided.
Attend meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills in supporting students with special educational needs.
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (any subject specialism)
Proven experience as a SEND Teacher, preferably in a similar temporary capacity, with a strong understanding of different special educational needs and disabilities.
Knowledge of the relevant legislation, policies, and best practices in SEND education.
Ability to create and implement Individualised Education Plans (IEPs) and adapt instructional strategies to meet individual needs.
Familiarity with a range of teaching resources, assistive technologies, and interventions for supporting students with SEND.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, parents/guardians, colleagues, and external professionals.
Strong organisational skills to manage and document individual student progress, assessments, and interventions.
Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach to support students' social and emotional development.
Flexibility and adaptability to work with a diverse range of students and their unique needs.
Successful completion of background checks and any other necessary screening required by the recruitment agency and the school.
