My client is requiring the support of a senior backend engineer (Python) who will work on expanding a deployed "version 1" PDF document processor, which uses Microsoft Document Intelligence and OpenAI to extract data for human validation.
The task involves extending the rules to handle a wider variety of PDFs, supported by robust tests, to create a reliable human-in-the-loop pipeline that ensures high confidence in the extracted data.
Key skills:
- Expert in Python 3, with experience in testable architectures, TDD, CI, and modularisation
- Proficient in writing PyTests and using real-world example data
- Experience with deployed Python and cloud best practices
- Independent, self-driven, and able to collaborate with domain experts
- Focused on team success and comfortable with constructive feedback
Desired skills:
- Pandas
- Experience with Microsoft Document Intelligence JSON, especially for table structures (or equivalent)
- Azure Functions, MLOps best practices
- Experience with OpenAI APIs, including handling hallucinated results
- Participation in code reviews and promoting best engineering practices
- Collaboration with data science teams and mentoring less experienced members
- Experience with NLP embeddings
- Interest in AI, computer vision, and natural language processing
- Familiarity with accounting terms in private equity or venture capital
- Experience with Postgres SQL (or equivalent) and FastAPI
