Job Title: Senior Buyer – Raw Ingredients Location: Greater Glasgow Salary: Up to £40k Sector: FMCG Manufacturing Reports to: Purchasing Manager Are you an experienced Senior Buyer with a background in sourcing and procuring raw materials within the FMCG sector? We’re looking for a skilled and motivated individual to join a fast-paced manufacturing company and take the lead in securing high-quality ingredients, ensuring the best value while maintaining strong supplier relationships. What You'll Do: * Raw Material Sourcing: Source, negotiate, and secure raw ingredients from suppliers, ensuring all materials meet quality standards, are competitively priced, and are delivered on time. * Supplier Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers, while actively seeking new suppliers to improve the cost-effectiveness and reliability of the supply chain. * Contract Negotiation: Lead negotiations on contracts, ensuring favourable terms for price, delivery, and quality, while managing supplier performance to meet business requirements. * Market Analysis: Conduct ongoing market research to stay informed about trends, pricing, and risks in raw material sourcing, ensuring the business stays competitive. * Cost Optimisation: Collaborate with internal teams to identify opportunities for cost savings, efficiency improvements, and risk mitigation within the purchasing process. * Stock Management: Work closely with the supply chain and production teams to ensure optimal stock levels are maintained, avoiding shortages and delays. * Compliance: Ensure all purchased materials meet regulatory and quality standards, maintaining clear documentation and traceability. * Reporting: Provide regular reports to the Purchasing Manager on performance, market conditions, and supplier performance. What We're Looking For: * Proven experience as a Buyer or Senior Buyer within the FMCG sector, with a strong focus on raw ingredients sourcing. * Strong negotiation skills and the ability to manage supplier relationships effectively. * A good understanding of market trends and the factors that influence raw material pricing. * Commercial awareness with the ability to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality. * Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work to deadlines. * Strong IT skills, with experience using purchasing software and Excel for reporting and analysis. * A proactive, problem-solving mindset, with a focus on continuous improvement.
