Job Summary

The Information Governance Manager will have responsibility for development and management of Community Housings’ information & data governance frameworks.

You will have significant influence by advocating the benefits of good practices information management and why it is so critical in the successful delivery of our corporate plan.

You will develop cross-functional relationships across the company and develop internal governance forums that provide distinct levels of assurance. You will be comfortable working independently whilst being a proven relationship builder who can innovate, engage, improve and deliver results.

You will develop and monitor performance against data quality & integrity and other KPIs along with overseeing data protection compliance, including requests and incident management.


Key Responsibilities

• Lead and take ownership of our information related policies and procedures, ensuring their adoption and success.

• Provide expert advice and guidance across all UKGDPR & DPA requirements..

• Lead and take ownership for the introduction of STAIRs (or any similar access to information schemes for tenants).

• Oversee data protection compliance work such as Subject Access Requests, Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA’s), data related incidents or any other data protection requirements.

• Develop robust testing approaches to ensure compliance with all UKGDPR & DPA requirements.

• Promote data management best practice and engage with colleagues across the company to share the vision and importance of excellent quality data and associated data management practices.

• Define roles and responsibilities for information / data governance and ensure clear lines of accountability exist for our data assets.

• Work with information / data owners and stewards to ensure they are clear of duties and responsibilities.

• Operate as a link between the business and IT to ensure data requirements are fully considered at the point of systems and process change.



People Management Responsibilities

• Build and support effective, constructive and professional relationships across the department and Company to create a One team culture

• Lead, motivate and manage the team, monitoring performance and managing areas of underperformance where necessary

• Developing team members to meet their potential through regular group and individual feedback, performance conversations, coaching/mentoring and personal development

• Recruitment and induction of new team members


General Responsibilities

• To work within the Code of Conduct, policies, procedures, Standing Orders and Financial Regulations

• To foster constructive and collaborative working relationships with colleagues, stakeholders and partner organisations

• To participate in the continuous improvement of both the service delivery and your own development

• To ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of self and colleagues, understanding risk assessments and ensuring compliance with safe working practices



Essential Requirements

• Experience of and ability to manage and lead organisational change from an Information Governance perspective.

• Extensive practical experience in organisational compliance under legislation including UKGDPR, DPA, PECR, FoI etc

• Experience of aligning information governance compliance with business strategies and plans.

• Good communication, facilitation and influencing skills, which can be applied to driving improvement and change. An awareness of customer needs and the commitment to continually improve the service provided.
