Our Client is a well established and reputable construction business based in Cheshire. They are looking to recruit a Senior Buyer to join their team working on a variety of projects including new build high end residential projects, commercial projects and other general construction projects across Manchester and surrounding areas.
Job Description
To support their sustained growth, they are looking for a detail - orientated Senior Buyer who will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing goods and services for the company. The role involves researching potential vendors, negotiating contracts, and ensuring timely delivery of supplies.
Your role will be critical in maintaining the inventory levels and ensuring that we are getting the best possible prices for the products we need. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience within the construction industry and a strong track record of successful negotiations and supplier management
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with project requirements and company goals.
- Source and evaluate suppliers, negotiating contracts and securing the best possible terms and conditions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and subcontractors.
- Monitor supplier performance and address any issues or discrepancies promptly.
- Monitor and control procurement costs to stay within budget.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising on quality.
- Implement purchase order systems
- Provide accurate and timely reports on procurement activities and budget status.
- Mentor and support junior buyers and procurement staff.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance team environment.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Buyer or Senior Buyer within the construction industry.
- In-depth knowledge of construction materials, services, and supply chain management.
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to secure favourable terms and conditions.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in procurement software and MS Office, particularly Excel.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical mind-set with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
