Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Business Analyst. This internal consultancy role requires comprehensive business analysis skills and knowledge of computer-based systems and integration to capture requirements, analyse business processes, and recommend solutions aligned with our strategic objectives. The successful candidate will manage and mentor a team of Business Analysts, driving best practices and supporting key projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Specialist Competencies and Leadership:
- Apply advanced Business Analysis tools and techniques.
- Mentor and coach team members.
- Develop deep knowledge of our business areas and applications.
- Manage senior stakeholders and occasionally take on project management roles with the ability to communicate and collaborate with architects, developers, and business stakeholders.
- Operational Analysis:
- Analyze complex operational challenges and propose solutions.
- Conduct gap and impact analysis to deliver strategic recommendations.
- Feasibility and Cost/Benefit Analysis:
- Assess alternative processes and systems, recommending changes.
- Conduct pre-project analysis and develop business cases.
- Communicate change needs and benefits to stakeholders.
- Requirements and Process Improvement:
- Elicit, prioritize, and document user requirements.
- Provide functional specifications and design documentation.
- Produce logical system designs and prototypes.
- Team Leadership:
- Manage a small team of project managers or business analysts.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative environment.
- Promote staff development and continuous improvement.
- Best Practice Processes:
- Drive and support best practices within the team.
- Maintain domain knowledge and mentor junior analysts.
- Support and Deputize Team Manager:
- Deputize for the team manager as needed.
- Oversee and coordinate work, ensuring effective decision-making.
- System and User Testing:
- Validate system and user testing approaches.
- Create test strategies, scenarios, and scripts.
Qualifications and Experience:
Essential:
- BCS Business Analysis qualifications or equivalent.
- PRINCE2 or similar project management qualification.
- Professional qualification or postgraduate degree level skills.
- Proven experience in managing outcomes in a specialist field.
- Ability to gather, review, and document requirements.
- Project and people management skills.
- Appreciation of University priorities.
Desirable:
- Membership of a relevant professional body.
- ITIL Foundation certification or experience.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
- Commitment to professional development.
