Welcome to Marshalls Garden - the online specialist gardening retailer, run by gardeners for gardeners. Due to business growth, we have a new opportunity for an experienced Financial Analyst to join our finance team for Marshalls Garden. This role will be based in Spalding with some hybrid working available.
Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role will see you be a trusted advisor to key stakeholders within the business. Key responsibilities include the preparation and analysis of value-added data to provide insight, commercial understanding and challenge thinking to help teams make more informed decisions and drive overall business strategy.
Main Duties include:
- Support the commercial trading plan by preparing seasonal and ad hoc category performance reviews, identifying seasonal trends to enhance future business performance. Provide clear and concise business insights and recommendations for future activity and support category team with implementation as required.
- Regular reviews of sales and margin performance across all marketing activity, feeding recommendations back into the relevant teams, ensuring activity is in-line with business plan.
- Regular reviews of dispatched goods, providing insights into multiple dispatched per order and providing recommendations on reducing the number of dispatched per order.
- Supporting review and insight of existing / proposed promotional activity, identifying successes and subsequent rollout plans, together with challenges and future opportunities.
- Work with category teams to ensure accurate standard costs for material, labour, packaging and distribution costs across all product costings, measuring against actuals for each season, providing recommendations for change.
- Supporting the category teams on costing, pricing reviews including competitor price analysis and forecasting as required with data and commercial reasoning to ensure the Company objectives are reflected.
- Providing data insight for wider planned projects/opportunities as required
- Interrogate business reporting in multiple systems ensuring accuracy of data and suggesting improvements and development as necessary
Key experience and skill set required:
- Part-Qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA
- Budgets and Forecasting skills
- Committed team player with proven ability to hit deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
- The ability to challenge senior stakeholders and operate with appropriate impact and influence.
