Job Requirements / Description
The Company
My client was founded in 2020 by its Directors who have collectively over 30 years experience in the field. Covering not only London, but all of the UK, they are a dynamic organisation committed to providing the highest quality services for their customers.
Their mission is to provide informed, specialist advice to their clients which is key to their professional approach. This means that they focus on building relationships with their clients and gain a real understanding of their needs. They take care always to be proactive, supporting and partnering with clients during each stage of a project and ensuring throughout that they get the full benefit of their experience and confidence.
They are proud to hold third party accreditation with IFC which is a vital part of the passive fire protection industry. This gives peace of mind to clients and guarantees their installations are installed to correct specifications and office procedures are followed to strict guidelines. They are also proud to hold the SSIP, Acclaim Safe Contractor and Constructionline Gold accreditations which are essential to any construction project.
The Role
The Quantity Surveyor - Passive Fire Protection Specialist will play a vital role in the planning, management, and financial oversight of passive fire protection projects. Your focus will be on ensuring cost-effective delivery, compliance with fire safety regulations, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
This position offers an opportunity to work on meaningful projects where fire protection is critical. You will collaborate closely with project managers, site teams, and contractors to ensure projects remain on track and within budget, while also maintaining compliance with fire safety standards.
Qualifications
* Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
* Relevant certifications and experience in Passive Fire Protection is essential for this role.
* Expertise in fire safety standards, PFP materials, and installation techniques. Familiarity with BS 476, BS 9999, and local fire safety codes is essential.
Responsibilities
* Budget & Cost Management: Develop detailed budgets, cost plans, and cash flow projections for PFP projects, continuously monitoring costs against budget throughout the project lifecycle.
* Tendering & Contract Administration: Prepare, review, and manage tender documentation and contract terms, including bills of quantities for PFP installations. You will be involved in evaluating supplier and contractor bids to ensure quality, compliance, and cost-effectiveness.
* Project Compliance & Quality Assurance: Conduct regular site visits to verify compliance with fire safety codes and quality standards, including BS 476 and BS 9999. Your expertise in fire-resistive materials and systems (such as intumescent coatings, fire doors, and compartmentation) will be essential in these assessments.
* Stakeholder Coordination: Act as the primary liaison for financial and contractual queries, working with clients, contractors, and the project team to maintain transparency and resolve issues.
* Risk & Value Management: Identify and manage project risks and cost-saving opportunities. Prepare regular financial reports and provide recommendations for cost adjustments as needed.
Permanent Position offering a competitive salary plus package to the successful candidate (£55,000 - £60,000)
