Job Summary:
As a Senior Electrical Systems Engineer focusing on high voltage, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-voltage electrical systems. You will work on a variety of projects, including power generation, transmission, and distribution, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations. Your expertise will contribute to the advancement of our high-voltage technologies and systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop high-voltage electrical systems and components, including power generation, transmission, and distribution systems.
- Conduct detailed electrical design analysis, including load flow, short circuit, and protection coordination studies.
- Develop schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings for high-voltage systems.
- Perform system modelling, simulation, and analysis using specialised software tools.
- Ensure designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and company quality guidelines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, software, and project management, to ensure seamless integration of high-voltage systems.
- Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of high-voltage systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to high-voltage systems.
- Stay current with advancements in high-voltage technology and industry trends.
- Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of high-voltage power generation, transmission, and distribution systems.
- Proficiency in electrical design software such as ETAP, PSCAD, or similar tools.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (e.g., IEEE, IEC, NEC).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is preferred.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with renewable energy systems (e.g., wind, solar) and their integration into high-voltage networks.
- Knowledge of protective relaying and substation automation.
- Experience with high voltage testing and diagnostic equipment.
- Project management skills and experience in leading technical projects.
