Head of Data Engineering

Our client is looking for a Head of Data Engineering to come on board and continue their development of their data platform product. They are looking for someone that can have a primary focus on the strategic running of the existing team but also someone that isn't so far removed from the technical aspects of the team that they can get hands on with the development too.With an ever evolving platform and technology stack, the role is a great opportunity for a natural technologist. With a core technology stack of PostgreSQL, AWS and Python, this will be a key component of the successful candidates toolkit. Coupled with their use of DevOps technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker and CI/CD pipelines, this will be an area that the incoming candidate will have a passion for.ResponsibilitiesDevelop a collaborative working environment between all siloes of the Data Engineering team Lead a team of Software, Data and DevOps EngineersBe at the forefront of the technology roadmap of the core data platformWork collaboratively with the senior stakeholders within the business to make sure that the development strategy matches the business strategyBe willing to work hands on with development when neededSkillsProven experience of developing and executing technology roadmaps - within Data/Software/DevOps EngineeringStrong AWS and PostgreSQL background (another database would be fine)Experience with Python and other scripting languagesGood knowledge of DevOps (desirable)
