BSL Teaching Assistant Are you an experienced, enthusiastic, and motivated Teaching Assistant with a BSL Level 1 qualification or above? If you have a genuine desire to empower Deaf children and help them thrive, we want you to join our dedicated team at a Primary School in Lewisham. About the Role: This full-time position offers the opportunity to work under the guidance of the Teacher of the Deaf, utilising a Total Communication approach to ensure Deaf pupils can access learning both in their mainstream classroom and in our specialised Centre for the Deaf. Key Responsibilities: Support the learning and educational progress of pupils with hearing impairments through small group and one-to-one interventions. Collaborate with the Teacher of the Deaf and class teachers to promote inclusion and engagement in all learning experiences. Use BSL to facilitate communication and ensure Deaf pupils can participate fully in the curriculum. Foster independence in learning and encourage participation in various aspects of school life.What We're Looking For: BSL Level 1 qualification or above and experience of working within a primary school. The ability and willingness to understand the needs of students from different social backgrounds, sensory impairments and special educational needs. Excellent oral and written communication in addition to their BSL communication. The ability to form and maintain appropriate professional relationships and boundaries with young people and adults.
