acting as an Employment Agency are excited to be working with a leading specialist provider of HR, HS, Law and Tax advice services. A Health and Safety Consultant role has arisen in their established HS Consultancy Team. This is a field based role with regular nationwide travel to client sites, focusing on the south of England. The role reports to the company Head of Health and Safety.

The HS Consultant will be working with a varied SME client based including from manufacturing, engineering, hospitality, retail, etc. The role is to provide those clients with tailored support and guidance to ensure compliance and improvements within the clients health and safety management processes. You will work with and establish good working relationships with the clients.

You must have extensive knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and broad operational and technical expertise gained from your work history to enable you to provide commercial and pragmatic advice and case manage your workload. You will need excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, along with the ability to understand and adapt to the changing needs of the service and clients an essential. The ideal candidate will have a dynamic and adaptable approach, be open and honest with effective decision making and planning skills. You must have the ability to take initiative, prioritise and plan effectively as you will often be working to tight deadlines.

The duties include: Undertaking Health & Safety audits and producing reports of the findings highlighting risks and how to implement a suitable health and safety management system Assisting clients in the implementation of agreed action plans Drafting Health & Safety manuals, policies and procedures to meet client needs and compliance Effectively account managing clients; to ensure compliance and determine their Health & Safety operational and strategic needs, delivering services in line with agreed SLA’s Providing Health and Safety advice to clients; ensuring the advice offers best practice and commercially practical solutions, whilst explaining the risks and liabilities with associated solutions Advising on and undertaking ad hoc consultancy tasks including risk assessments at client sites; for example, Fire Risk Assessments, DSE Development and implementation of Health and Safety training programs to meet client needs Maintaining operational awareness of the various ISO standards and other accreditation systems (such as SSIP and CHAS) to support clients maintain and achieve their certification where applicable Working effectively with the wider team to support consistent delivery to clients, ensuring continuity of advice and practical support for client support issues where required Supporting the business development team by identifying opportunities for additional services Supporting with internal team Health and Safety management compliance Monthly visits to the company office in Leicester

The right candidate will have: NEBOSH General Certificate, or equivalent is essential Minimum 2 years experience working in a H&S Consultancy or H&S Management role Working knowledge of Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 plus supporting regulations Fire Risk Assessment qualification is essential Ability to engage and develop relationships remotely and to adapt support at all levels of organisational hierarchy Ability to analyse and interrogate available information from a health & safety perspective to get to the root of the cause, identify risks and provide solutions and the varied options available Ability to influence key decision makers in organisations Excellent communication skills and not be afraid to have difficult conversations with clients about their level of compliance and challanges Experience of working to deadlines in a pressurised environment Ability to organise and prioritise own workload and think outside of the box The ability to work effectively as part of a team, and on own initiative and autonomously Good IT skills. A working knowledge of Windows (Word, Outlook and Excel) Prerable experience using the i-auditor platform Must have a full driving license and use of own vehicle as travel throughout the UK will be required

Benefits Salary: £40-50k. In addition to your basic salary, we have a competitive benefits package including car allowance, pension, death in service, 26 days hols (increases with length of service) and Employee Assistance Programme. We operate a hybrid working model.
