Senior Privacy Lawyer – Magic Circle Law Firm
We are seeking an experienced Senior Privacy Lawyer to join the Privacy Team of a prestigious Magic Circle law firm. In this role, you will deliver expert data protection compliance advice to internal stakeholders across the firm. As a key member of the Privacy Team, you will act as a trusted advisor to the firm’s practice groups and business services teams on data protection compliance matters globally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Global Data Protection Officer (DPO) in driving compliance priorities, projects, and initiatives.
- Review, draft, and advise on data protection agreements, including standard contractual clauses, transfer impact assessments, and other related documentation.
- Work closely with the Privacy Operations team on a variety of privacy workstreams, such as data subject access requests, data incidents, and Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs).
- Provide comprehensive legal advice to practice groups on the firm’s global data protection obligations.
- Stay abreast of privacy law developments in the UK, EU, and other jurisdictions in which the firm operates.
Key Requirements:
- Qualified lawyer in England & Wales (or another common law or European jurisdiction) with significant experience in-house or in private practice in the UK.
- Between 4-7 years* of post-qualification experience (PQE), with demonstrated expertise in advising on global data protection matters.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify complex privacy concepts for a range of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships and work seamlessly across practice groups and business services teams.
