Senior Claims Analyst – Commercial Combined

Job Summary:


This role is part of the Global Markets Claims Group. You will be responsible for Property and Casualty claims (Commercial Combined) working within a strong and renowned claims team.


Responsibilities / Duties:

  • Be responsible for the day-to-day handling of the UK Commercial claims team’s commercial combined book in compliance with claims manuals and KPIs. Typical duties will include:
  • Setting up, investigating and authorising claim payments within specified authority
  • Reviewing incoming claim correspondence on existing claims, formulating responses and creating workflows
  • Maintaining a claims diary
  • Investigating liability, quantum and coverage
  • Adhering to internal procedures (i.e. declinatures, large losses, complaints, fraud etc)
  • Drafting/amending declinatures before referring into the Head of UKC and/or European Head of Claims for approval
  • Assessing, reserving and negotiating settling of claims within authority levels
  • Instructing and managing loss adjusters and experts, when appropriate
  • Reviewing loss adjuster and expert reports in detail
  • Seeking management approval for reserves beyond authority
  • Exploring and making subrogated recoveries with the assistance of loss adjusters/lawyers
  • Conducting site visits
  • Managing and handling claims that fall outside any delegated authority
  • Attending and presenting during claims and underwriter meetings
  • Reporting to Head of UKC claims and other management throughout
  • Assisting with coordination of and carrying out of internal and external audits
  • Liaising with underwriters regarding general claims queries
  • Managing recoveries within authority
  • Attending meetings with Insureds, brokers, lawyers, loss adjusters and other stakeholders,
  • Producing and analysing claims reports
  • Representing the claims team at market meetings, settlement meetings, mediations and marketing events
  • Assisting with special projects as required
  • Participating in annual claims presentation


Essential Requirements:

  • 5 years+ handling Property and/or Casualty claims (including large and complex losses)
  • Experience dealing with coverage issues
  • Good understanding of Property and Casualty policy wordings
  • Experience of managing bordereau and monitoring files on binder business
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well within a team environment
