Senior Java Engineer

My client is an established fintech business here in London. They're currently undergoing a big transformation across their technology function being led by their new VP of Engineering. They're looking for a Senior Java Engineer to assist in this and act as the right-hand person to the VP as they embark on this period of change/modernisation. This hire will be the 'best coder in the room' and add tech gravitas to the existing team. They'll be responsible for making structural improvements to the tech debt, taking the lead on the modernisation of the platform, continuing with the existing migration to a microservices architecture, improving the all-around code quality, and adding a host of new functionality to their platform. Requirements Expert Java programming skills including Spring Strong experience with relational databases - Sybase, Oracle or SQL Experience working with a microservices architecture Evidence of making an impact and driving change in previous roles Strong problem-solving skills Experience of mentoring, guiding and coaching juniors Responsibilities Hands-on software development in JVM languages Play an active part in the solution architecture, software design, and driving best practices Take an active part in modernising their platform Play a meaningful role in the tech choices/direction the team takes during this period of transformation They are looking to pay a salary of up to £100,000 plus bonus and benefits. Based in St Pauls with the expectation that you'll be in the office for 2 days a week
