Works ManagerGalldris GroupLocation: Aylesbury, BuckinghamshireAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a Works Manager to join our HS2 team in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. To be considered, you will come from a Civil Engineering background on large civils infrastructure projects, ideally with Main Contractors. The ideal candidate will have to hold a full UK driving licence, as travel between sites is necessary.The Works manager will take on overall responsibility to provide management, leadership and control of a multi-disciplinary team for the Foremen, General Foreman and Labour required for the management and control of the site works. This includes ensuring appropriate supervision of subcontractors and direct workforce, and also that the right level and appropriate resources are used.Key Accountabilities to include but not limited to:Putting all sub-contractors and operatives to work in a safe and organised mannerEnsuring works are carried out in accordance with H&S legislation, Client procedures and approved RAMSProvide input into RAMs and methodologyPromote and implement Zero Harm and any behavioural safety initiativesConfidence to stop work if anything is outside of the ‘safe system of work’Manage all resource levelsReconcile resources against the cost planInput into monthly resource forecast (according to the latest programme)Ensuring all daily checks and other records are completedEnsure that the right level of resources are on-site with the appropriate competence and managed to meet the programmeResponsible for hiring and off-hiring plant in accordance with client and company standards, and maintenance of plant registerAwareness of environmental issues and controls and ensuring that specific project controls are in placeEnsuring that Site Inductions, Daily Briefings, Tool Box Talks, Short Interval Control meetings and Task Safety Briefings are carried out to a high standard, are succinct and appropriateWork with the site teams to develop programmes and outputs and monitor as necessaryOversee site setup and mobilisationInput into site logistics plan and oversee logistics management throughout the projectEnsure that materials are ordered and managed to minimise wastageEnsure that quality control is implementedEnsure fully comprehensive daily records are producedProvide any reports or investigations required and implement improvements as appropriateEnsure that all supervisors are briefed and understand company policiesEnsure Black Hat assessments are carried out on all site supervisorsEnsure accurate and timely submission of allocation sheetsKeep accurate and succinct site diaryMentor and support engineers and supervisorsUndertake other duties commensurate with the level of this positionComply with Company policies & proceduresExperience/Knowledge:Experience in civil engineering works within a regulated environment, such as the rail / highways / water sectorStrong experience and knowledge of FRCExperience in Groundworks and EarthworksYou will have a good experience of managing a variety of works with both direct and subcontract workforceExcellent Health & Safety awareness with a demonstrable record of managing sites with an outstanding safety recordUnderstanding the principles of Behavioural Safety and the passion and determination to ensure the highest standards are achievedDevelop and maintain relationships with Clients and StakeholdersGood communication skills with the ability to think and act decisivelyQualifications:Valid SMSTSCSCS CardHolds a current driving licenceSkills:Excellent communication skills both verbal and writtenMeticulous, organised, proactive with a positive attitude, and willing to learnSelf-motivated and enthusiasticExcellent negotiation and interpersonal skills to build relationships and manage suppliers, negotiate prices, and place ordersStrong people skills with the ability to liaise with all levels of personnelInterested applicants must be eligible to work legally in the UK.Should you feel you have what it takes to be successful in this role then we would love to hear from you.Employee referral scheme - refer a friend or family member to work for Galldris.
