Job Title: Driver / Plant Machine Operative

About the role:
We are looking for a LGV Driver / Plant Machine Operative to join the team within our Kemsley Paper Mill facility, ensuring all work is completed to a standard set out by our clients with maximum efficiency.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow instructions from the Line Manager and complete tasks efficiently, in compliance with the law and company interests.
- Operate machines, equipment, and plant as instructed, following company policies, procedures, and appropriate training.
- Transport waste materials from designated areas to specific on-site locations using appropriate vehicles and equipment.
- Load materials and waste as directed, ensuring all lorries, bins, and containers are filled promptly while keeping the site clean and tidy.
- Complete all required reports accurately and on time.
- Perform driver maintenance checks at proper intervals and report any faults in vehicles, equipment, or containers immediately using the approved system.
- Report any accidents involving vehicles, equipment, or personnel to the Contract Manager immediately and complete the necessary forms.
- Operate roll-on/roll-off vehicles, skip lorries (off-road driving), loading machines (e.g., shovel, telehandler, materials handler), and sweeper vehicles as required.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness, including regular jet washing, and ensure vehicles are in good condition.
- Conduct shift handovers and walk-around checks at the start and end of each shift.
- Assist with general site operations and perform basic maintenance duties.
- Ensure compliance with all company procedures, including those in the Employment Handbook, H&S Policy, EMS System, IMS System, and any financial/accounting systems.
- Always prioritise your own Health and Safety and that of colleagues, ensuring proper PPE is worn at all times in line with the company s Health and Safety Policy.
About you:
Essentials:
- HGV Class 2 licence
- Experience operating plant machinery, such as telehandlers, loaders, or forklifts.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and safe working practices.
- Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance and safety checks.
- Good communication skills to work effectively within a team.
- Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately
