Infrastructure Engineer Location: Birmingham Salary: Up to £50,000 My client is on the search for a highly skilled Infrastructure Engineer to join their logistics company based in Birmingham. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing their IT infrastructure, ensuring the smooth operation of our network, servers, and systems critical to logistics operations. You will play a key role in driving improvements, supporting day-to-day IT operations, and ensuring the infrastructure is secure, scalable, and aligned with business goals. Key Responsibilities: * Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot the company's LAN/WAN infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime. * Manage on-premise and cloud-based servers, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of Windows/Linux servers, virtual machines, and storage systems. * Implement security protocols to safeguard infrastructure, monitor security logs, and apply necessary patches or updates to prevent vulnerabilities. * Participate in or lead infrastructure-related projects. * Provide 2nd and 3rd line support for complex infrastructure-related issues, working closely with the IT support team to resolve escalated problems. Skills: * Strong knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLAN), virtualisation (VMware, Hyper-V). * Proficiency with Windows Server, Linux, Active Directory, Group Policy, and Exchange. * Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS, with a focus on infrastructure as a service and hybrid environments. * Solid understanding of network and system security best practices, including firewalls, VPNs, and endpoint protection. * Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure issues efficiently. * Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. * Previous experience in a similar role within a fast-paced industry is preferred.
