The Recruitment Bunker are recruiting exclusively for a Supplier & Parts Quality Manger for a leading group of companies based in Coventry.


The primary objective of the role is to be responsible for ensuring the seamless integration of automotive components from the supply chain into production, by managing, enhancing, and improving supplier performance related to quality, costs, and delivery in line with product development process and running changes. The Suppler and Parts Quality Department are responsible for ensuring that all parts for development and series production vehicles are quality assured. Creating and helping develop the quality assurance activities within suppliers as well as internally to ensure seamless introduction and perfect vehicle quality.


As this is a new position, the role will also involve working with the other Quality functions, Product Development, Procurement and Manufacturing to create and implement a suitable part approval process, internal parts inspection, supplier feedback and production parts quality support structure. The role will also involve recruiting Supplier Quality Engineers and internal parts quality engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Implementing a Parts Approval Process covering the relevant aspects of PPAP and APQP or similar, as deemed necessary, to anticipate and prevent potential quality issues and support project milestones that result in on time Quality submissions
  • Establishing an internal parts inspection process and support methodology for both prototype and series production vehicle builds
  • Recruiting, manging and supporting a team of Supplier and Parts Quality engineers to cover supplier quality, parts approval and internal production parts quality
  • Supporting Procurement in any potential new supplier auditing and selection
  • Leading and supporting the Supplier and Parts Quality team activities and priorities across multiple programmes to ensure successful vehicle development, introduction and production.
  • Track and report supplier quality status against all new programme development and introductions against programme milestones and gateways
  • Coach and use of quality tools such as 8D, FMEA, control plans, process mapping and problem-solving skills
  • Act as a liaison between the supplier, Design, Development, Engineering, Programmes, Purchasing and Quality Departments
  • Conduct supplier assessments and audits to ensure compliance with industry standards and specifications
  • Analyse and resolve supplier-related quality concerns, working closely with cross-functional teams
  • Manage the supplier development process, fostering long-term relationships to enhance overall product quality
  • Lead and participate in root cause analysis and corrective action processes to address quality deviations
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the supply chain, optimising efficiency and reducing defects
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to implement best practices in supplier quality management
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to suppliers to ensure adherence to quality standards
  • Work in compliance and conform to ISO9001 and IATF16949 standards
  • Capture lessons learned and feed them back internally as well as into the supply base and promote a no-fault-forward and continuous improvement quality culture.


Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related and equivalent discipline or qualification
  • Proven experience as a Supplier & Parts Quality Manager withing the automotive industry preferably within an OEM, but as a minimum within a 1st Tier Supplier
  • Proven experience of managing a team
  • Expert knowledge of PPAP and APQP, FMEA
  • Broad knowledge of Manufacturing processes, including composites
  • Knowledge and understanding of working ISO9001/IATF16949 and other relevant quality management systems
  • Thorough knowledge of industry standards and quality requirements for automotive components
  • Experience of creating complete vehicle and component Quality Standards
  • Ability to carry out audits and monitor and report on Supplier performance
  • Strong understanding of wide range of quality management tools and experience of using them
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on root cause analysis
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills to liaise with suppliers and internal stakeholders
  • Project management skills to lead initiatives and drive improvements
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and communication skills both verbal and written
  • Experience of implementing parts approval software preferred but not essential
  • IT literate – Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Clean drivers’ licence
  • Able to travel primarily within the UK, but if required overseas, when required
  • Must have IDLR/ Full right to work in UK- Sponsorship will not be provided.
