Sustainable Design Analyst Job now available in Central London! An opportunity to join an architectural practice that is focused on delivering sustainable, environmentally responsive projects that support the objectives of The Paris Agreement!

The last 18 months have seen this practice grow in staff numbers across all three offices in Ireland and with bigger plans for growth, especially within the UK market they are now looking to add Sustainable Design Analysts of all experience levels who are passionate about driving high-performance, resource-efficient solutions to join their growing London team. This role offers the opportunity to apply your expertise across a diverse portfolio of projects, playing a key part in achieving the practice's net-zero ambitions.

This role is being offered as remote/hybrid, all applicants must be located in London or within a reasonable commute to the city.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Use computational simulations and analysis to optimise energy efficiency, comfort, climate response, and health in the built environment
  • Embed environmental design principles early in the design process, ensuring holistic evaluations of building operations
  • Guide design teams in integrating environmental strategies seamlessly into architectural concepts, collaborating closely with the engineering team
  • Advance our computational energy modeling toolkit for projects ranging from individual buildings to large-scale urban developments
  • Enable project teams to utilise environmental simulation tools effectively, optimising outcomes across all scales
  • Create compelling visuals, reports, and presentations to communicate insights to clients and design teams
  • Stay informed on global trends, policies, and innovations in energy-efficient design and resource management
  • Conduct urban-level sustainability analyses to support city planning and resource management strategies
  • Explore and implement innovative low and zero-carbon technologies in our projects
  • Analyse data and clearly communicate findings through concise reports, presentations, and discussions
  • Collaborate on integrating AI and Machine Learning into our workflows to drive innovation in design technology
  • Cultivate a deep passion for environmental sustainability as a core aspect of your professional growth.

Required Skills & Experience

  • A degree in Architecture, Engineering, Physics, or a related field, with a Master's in Sustainable/Environmental Design or equivalent experience
  • Proven expertise in energy modeling, building physics and/or life cycle assessments
  • Strong knowledge of energy systems and their dynamics
  • Proficiency in tools such as One Click LCA, IES-VE, EnergyPlus, OpenStudio, Grasshopper, Ladybug and Honeybee
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards including ASHRAE 90.1 (Appendix G), Building Regulations (Part L), CIBSE guidelines (TM52, TM59, TM54), European Standards (IS EN 15251/ IS EN 16798 / IS EN 15603) and DEAP & NEAP Operational Energy Calculation
  • Experience in bioclimatic design, low-energy strategies, and passive systems
  • Understanding of performance methodologies like Soft Landings and Post-Occupancy Evaluations
  • Strong grasp of building services, mechanical systems, and performance modeling
  • Knowledge of applying low and zero-carbon technologies in building design
  • Hands-on experience with computational environmental analysis or energy modeling
  • Strong knowledge of certification frameworks like LEED, BREEAM, WELL, etc
  • Chartered or working towards professional accreditation
  • Exceptional organisational skills with a proactive, self-starting approach
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of translating complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
  • Proficient in CAD and 3D modeling tools, ideally with experience in Rhino and Revit
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
  • Eligible to work in the UK / Europe.
