Welfare officer | Islington, North London | ASAP Start Job title: Welfare Officer Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm Salary: £90 - £105 Location: Islington, North London The school: This school provides alternative education through a Performing Arts and Media curriculum. Now housed in a new building at the heart of North London's Tech City area, facilities have been purpose built to offer a range of high specification specialist teaching spaces including a Theatre, Dance Studio, Recording Studio, Music Technology Suites, Film and Photography Studios. The role of a Welfare Officer: This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. You would be expected to oversee Educational Welfare across the school and work closely with the attendance team and pastoral staff to improve school welfare and safeguarding for all students. You would support school progress, by conducting weekly safe and wellness checks for students, visiting a caseload of students in lessons and monitor behaviour being able to link triggers. Responsibilities of a Welfare Officer: Contributing first aid, health & well-being to students Promote appropriate health guidance, wellbeing advice and other supportive strategies to students as necessary Facilitate medical provision for students notwithstanding differences of race, gender and educational, social, or medical need To lead, monitor and implement individual health care plans for appropriate students To administer medication, as agreed with parents and the academy health & safety policy To work with individuals and groups of students on health-related issues through self-referral, drop-in sessions, peer training and proactive work on sex education and health-related issues as directed by the vice principal, behaviour, and inclusion To act as advocate/counsellor for students who seek medical help and support or whose need for medical interventions are recognised by others To contribute, where relevant, to the compilation and updating of students' individual learning plans, action plans and targets If you are interested as a welfare officer, please do contact Siann at Remedy Education
