Working through our Client, Childline, you will be part of an incredible organisation that supports hundreds of thousands of children all over the UK every year, many of whom want to talk at night while their other supports are not available. As a Childline Practitioner (Twilight) you will deliver this vital service alongside a committed and dedicated team who will share your values of supporting children and young people. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES To ensure effective high quality service delivery through supervision of the live and virtual shifts, directly answering contacts and assessing risk presented by children. To provide effective supervision and coaching to peers and Childline Volunteer Counsellors during the shifts within the Childline base or through virtual e-mail shifts. To respond directly to contacts from children and young people during overnight and peak hours, including the completion of risk assessments, and advise Volunteers on appropriate safeguarding action. At present we are hiring for 28hrs and 17.5hrs contracts. Salary: £34,582 to £38,425 (pro-rata) plus 10.5% shift allowance, and £200 home working allowance if opting for hybrid working. You will work a hybrid rota which includes a consistent balance of daytime, twilight and night shifts across a 6-week pattern which includes weekend working one in every three weeks (or one in six weeks for those on 17.5 hour contracts). There is built in time for extended weekends and a third of the working days can be done from home.. An example rota will be provided to you. We are looking for candidates that have a strong background in Childrens Safeguarding, Risk Assessment and Childrens Legislation. A background in one of the following sectors would be ideal: Youth Work or Youth Justice Front line Childrens Services Community or Residential Care Education We are particularly looking for candidates that have worked within Looked After Childrens Services or have attended and participated in Multi-Agency working or case conferences. Previous Helpline experience is also preferable. Excellent induction and full training provided, as well as ongoing support and supervision will ensure you continue to be developed and supported in the role and the growth in the wider team. Due to Safeguarding Policy of the Organisation you be required to complete an Enhanced Access NI check prior to commencing role.
