Job Description

Position scope

This position is accountable for managing the total sales efforts of Movenpick Windhoek and Mercure Windhoek. This includes the generation of all revenues consistent with the Company objectives; implementation of sales performance management systems; Revenue Management systems, and market segmentation analysis for Group, Corporate, Wholesale, and Transient. Additionally, this position is strongly involved with Key Customer relationships and takes an active role in the business community by being involved in the various trade organizations such as Chamber of Commerce, Convention & Visitor Bureau, and Business Councils.

General Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership in the areas of Sales and works closely with the General Manager.
  • Directing, managing and coordinating an efficient and effective sales and marketing plan for the Company.
  • Areas of responsibility include Sales components in all revenue areas.
  • Recruits and provides appropriate support to new sales employees to ensure their ultimate success.
  • Develop and motivate staff, consistent with the Company needs through implementation of approved personnel programs and execution of succession planning.
  • Ensures superior sales service delivery to all customers.
  • Supports Global Sales Offices and monitors the working relationship and production.
  • Identifies key customers and establishes goals for existing and new key accounts through the establishment of detailed action plans for each of the Company's market segments.
  • Achieves budgeted room night quotas and average rates set out in the yearly business plan for the Company.
  • Insure the installation, maintenance and operational efficiency of in-house sales technology and systems management.
  • Provides guidance in preparation of monthly reports, backlog, tracking of account room nights in the group, Corp IT, and tour and leisure market segments and guides the development of customer action plans.
  • Coordinates the Company's participation in multiple property and Company-wide campaigns.
  • Knowledgeable about the competitive set and will be on top of market share statistics.
  • Through own behavior, emphasizes Brand Selling and lead referral.
  • Strongly involved in business community and trade organizations with a focus on securing incremental business and enhancing the position of the Company in the market.
  • Provides feedback on business performance on a monthly and quarterly basis to owners.
  • Manages the HR function of the Sales, Marketing, Reservations, Conference Services and Revenue Departments.
  • Manage and implement Digital Marketing Strategy.
  • Manage advertising and marketing activities for various business units.
  • Manage Social Media channels.
  • Recruitment of high level individuals in key revenue generating positions in order to achieve successful results.
  • Manage relationship with all Operational Departments.
  • Plays an active role in achieving top line financial targets in Rooms, Food & Beverage and Spa.
  • Key focus to assist General Manager in achieving overall budgeted Gross Operating Profit.
  • Review P&L results and implement short terms strategies accordingly.
  • Collation of monthly and quarterly Owners Financial Review Presentations.
  • Develop Sales Plan on an annual basis.
  • Control of Sales Expenses and realignment according to business requirements.
  • Budget and Forecasting across all Revenue Generating Departments.
  • Independently responsible for achievement of objectives, as outlined in the action plans.
  • Identifies key prospects based on Company goals and achieve specific conversion goals.
  • Actively supports the goals of the team and recommends revenue producing activities and ways to implement.

Qualifications

To fulfil this role successfully, you should demonstrate the following minimum qualifications:

  • Minimum of five (5) Years of Hotel Sales.
  • Management Experience (type): Director.
  • Four-year college degree preferred.
  • Minimum Years of Leadership Experience in a Full-Service Hotel: 4 star plus.
  • Additional Requirements (i.e., % of travel time, etc.): Ability to travel on short notice and adaptable to schedule changes.
  • Highly professional presentations and communication (oral and written) skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to perform critical analysis.
