Commercial Counsel - Top Algorithmic Trading Firm - London

Job DescriptionThe RoleWe are partnered with a leading Algorithmic Trading Firm who are looking to hire a Commercial Counsel to join their growing Legal function, leading on a range of commercial agreements and contracts for their growing business. The ideal candidate will have experience in either a top-tier law firm or In-House counsel, ideally with some exposure to Financial Services/Financial Services Clients. In this role you will work closely with the rest of the legal team as well as with the businesses directly: with traders, business development, product, operations. You will also work on projects with the senior leadership team, such as COO, CEO, etc and have the opportunity to shape templates and approaches that best balance the business growth objectives and risk.Key Responsibilities:•Lead legal-commercial negotiations: draft and negotiate agreements in relation to the various business lines (Trading agreements, Software agreements, Exchange agreements, OTC etc)•Work closely with the legal and compliance teams to monitor the legal and regulatory landscapes across various business jurisdictions. •Become actively involved in other legal projects depending on skills, preferences and company needs, including commercial disputes/litigation, employment, and corporate projects. Experience Requirements:· Circa 2-5 years of experience practicing law (qualified) at a top-tier law firm or as in-house counsel. Financial Services, Fintech or Crypto exposure advantageous. · Strong grasp of commercial law, with special preference for this relating to financial services. · Curiosity and interest to learn other areas of law and business quickly· Proven ability to see the bigger picture and commercial strategy; quickly understand new functional areas and have a cross-functional mindsetDue to the high volume of applications, if you haven’t heard back from the team on this role, unfortunately your application has been unsuccessful.
