We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer to join our data warehousing team to work on ongoing business initiatives as well as an ongoing company integration project. This role requires extensive experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) to build and optimise ETL processes, ensuring seamless data ingestion, analysis and integration from various source systems. The role also involves close collaboration with data analysts and participation in testing activities. This is a hybrid role, requiring the candidate to be based in the office 3 days a week. Responsibilities Principle Duties: Analysis & Design: Assist the Data Analyst with tasks such as mapping source data to the existing data model and design of database schemas and SSIS packages. ETL Uplift & Data Integration: Using the technical standards provided, uplift and redevelop existing ETL processes to ingest source data from different systems while ensuring seamless integration of data from these systems into the unified data warehouse. T-SQL Programming: Write complex T-SQL scripts for data retrieval, manipulation, and analysis. Optimize existing queries and stored procedures to enhance performance and ensure efficient data processing. Performance Optimisation: Ensure the stability, flexibility, and scalability of the data warehouse. Identify and resolve potential issues, ensuring the system can handle increasing data volumes and user demands. Testing & Validation: Conduct preliminary testing to validate the accuracy and performance of ETL processes and the data warehouse. Assist in identifying and resolving any data quality, transformation or integration issues. Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of ETL processes, data mappings, and other technical aspects of the data warehousing initiative. Help develop and document functional, technical requirements and evidence of testing. Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with the development team, data analysts, subject matter experts and business stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of the data warehousing initiative. Requirements Qualifications and Experience: Required: Minimum 3 years practical experience working in operational data teams. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Proven experience in designing, developing and implementing data warehousing solutions with a focus on data integration and ETL development. Preferred: A background in financial services is desirable. Experience in uplifting and modernising data warehouses is a plus. Experience in companies that have undergone mergers or acquisitions with an understanding of the challenges involved in data integration. Knowledge and Skills: Required : Extensive experience with SQL Server Integrations Services (SSIS) and Microsoft SQL Server development. Extensive knowledge of T-SQL and stored procedure programming on Microsoft SQL Server. Experience in scripting tasks with SSIS (Powershell, C#, Python). Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, architectures, and best practices. Strong understanding of database architecture, indexing, and query optimization. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve data-related issues. Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. High attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy and quality.
