Data Center Engineer

Job Title: Data Centre Cabling Engineer Location: Canary Wharf Employment Type: Full-time / Contract Salary: £200 per day Start Date: ASAP Overview of the Role: We are seeking a skilled Data Centre Cabling Engineer to join our team. This role focuses exclusively on cabling work, with a primary focus on pre-terminated cabling and installations. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation and maintenance of cabling infrastructure in a data centre environment to ensure optimal network performance. Key Responsibilities: Cabling Installation: Install structured cabling (Cat6, Cat6A, fibre optics, etc.) within data centre environments, ensuring all work meets industry standards and customer requirements. Pre-terminated Cabling: Handle pre-terminated cabling installations, including running cables, securing, routing, and connecting to the necessary equipment. Cable Management: Ensure proper cable routing and organization to support efficient data flow and ease of maintenance. Testing and Certification: Perform basic testing to verify the functionality of installed cabling using cable testers and other relevant tools. Troubleshooting: Assist in diagnosing cabling issues, ensuring quick resolution to minimize downtime. Key Requirements: Proven experience working with structured cabling in a data centre or similar environment. Strong knowledge of pre-terminated fibre optic and copper cabling. Experience in cable installation, routing, and termination. Familiarity with industry standards for cabling (e.g., TIA/EIA, ISO/IEC). Ability to follow detailed instructions and work to project deadlines. Good organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Basic knowledge of cable testing equipment and procedures. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Desirable Skills: Basic knowledge of networking equipment and data centre infrastructure. Experience with cable management tools and software. Understanding of Health & Safety procedures within a data centre environment.
